The primary objective of this assignment is to strengthen the links between the climate change agenda and democratic governance. It is expected that through the application of an Institutional and Context Analysis (ICA) lens in various initiatives, such as Renewable Energy, REDD+, and the Poverty and Environment Initiative, among others, governance and institutional factors within these initiatives will be identified, thereby enabling programmatic interventions that are more comprehensive and sustainable.

 

The consultant will work very closely with the Democratic Governance and Energy and Environment team at the UNDP APRC. He/she will have a full understanding of the scope of work being undertaken within the Climate Change team, and will be required to work with the different areas within EE, such as renewable energy, REDD+, and other initiatives such as the Poverty-Environment Initiative. The consultant will also be expected to apply the ICA in other thematic areas, such as democratic space, and governance in general, particularly with regard to demands articulated by the country office.
