Vietnam: The role of gender in forest management and REDD+

“The role of gender in forest management and implementation of REDD+ initiative” workshop was organized by the collaboration between the Department of Forestry and Vietnam UN-REDD Program in the Quang Binh province on 1st and 2nd June, 2012. The workshop attracted the participation of representatives coming from the General Directorate of Forestry, Vietnam UN-REDD Programme, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong, QuangBinh and Di Linh district, Lam Dong province, representatives of national and international organizations as well as individuals.

 

The participants focused on discussing two main issues related to REDD+ in Vietnam, (1) the activities related to responding to climate change and REDD+; (2) integrating gender in the related activities. The comments and discussions significantly contributed for developing a responding program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in response to climate change with gender intergradations.
